Visitors to Taman Negara may participate in other energetic pursuits like
mountain climbing, camping and white water rafting. If you enjoy mountain
climbing, a journey up Gunung Tahan is a must. Gunung Tahan, standing 2,187
metres is the Peninsular’s highest peak and provides those who are brave
enough to challenge its height, an exhilarating view from the summit. Gunung
Tahan can be trekked up in a day. The journey to the summit is arduous and
requires a good level of physical fitness as well as the mental
determination to succeed. However, it is worth your while as the panoramic
view from Gunung Tahan is simply breathtaking.
Camping is another
activity that can be enjoyed at Taman Negara. A number of camping grounds
dot the virgin rainforest where you may have the opportunity to meet the
friendly Orang Asli (indigenous people). Orang Asli guides can be engaged
for excursions to the caves or other specific areas in the Park. Camp sites
and camping equipment are available for hire.
River
trips are another exciting way to see Taman Negara. Challenge the rapids or
sit back and enjoy the river ride while admiring the wonders of nature. For
the thrill seeker, the ride over the swirling rapids at Tembeling River is
an exhilarating experience not to be missed. Be prepared for a thorough
soaking, though!
